MEMORY: The Experience of Pioneering in the Baha’i Community

By becoming authors, performers and educators, pioneers continue to revisit, verbalise and teach the importance of their traditional identity in self-created ways. Their work can be an exemplary model for how memory and creativity combine to form the impetus that drives the pioneering tradition forward in addition to traditions in the Baha’i community not necessarily associated with pioneering.  From a distant angle, memory is a deceptively dormant force, often disconnected with the everyday…

Description of Ron Price's Blog

My literary activity on the world-wide-web is a personal and quite industrious enterprize. When I can find the time, I am engaged in creating across this global internet a tapestry of poetry and prose. At this site, readers will find one of my many journals, diaries or blogs. These various terms are used by various internet sites for a series of posts by one writer/author. The series of posts at this site is one of the many parts of this tapestry of prose and poetry I refer to… Continue

To all who come upon my page, I send you this prose-poem composed yesterday, that is, on 10 July 2008.
--------------------------------
CONFLATION

Some artists, notably and famously Rembrandt, the most important in Dutch history, painted self-portraits which in their unique way form an intimate autobiography, one without vanity and with the utmost sincerity.1 Some writers and poets try to do the same. Certainly that is one of my autobiographical aims in my five volumes of memoirs. Like Rembrandt, I interpret sacred and metaphorical history, its new myth for a new age in the light of my human experience. My emotional and intellectual response to this history and its sacred text, based on my belief in the truths of its religion as revelation is found in prose-poem after prose-poem and in volumes of my prose. Experience, reason and belief have been and are for me, as far as was and is possible within my limitations, a unity in multiplicity.–Ron Price with thanks to 1E.H. Gombrich, The Story of Art, Phaidon 1995, p.420.

For you, Rembrandt, portraiture
was a primary theme and so it is
for me, but my work, conflation
of autobiographical prose-poetry
does not embody democratic,
republican sentiment as yours
did in France in the 19th century
but a democratic theocracy that
has just stuck its head above the
ground, energized slowly in the
womb of a travailing age and in
a fully institutionalized indeed
routinized charismatic Force
with a dynamic and fascinating
role to play in the unification,
plantelization of humankind at
this climacteric of history in the
four epochs that are my very life.
