Hi Everyone, I am a lurker, but I get great enjoyment out of reading the
posts. Very informative. Question:- Does anyone have any thoughts on
2012 and a lot of the predictions that are out there? It also seems to
tie in with global warming and its devastation' s. I along with my
family and some friends are looking at buying land and forming a IC.
Starting in 2010. We were thinking Alabama or Georgia. But based on
some of the predictions, I wonder if we would have to move further north
for safer ground. Here are some links:-

Being on dial-up I cannot download the vids but I have studied 2012
info for about 20 years. Yes, you need to move more northward but not
anywhere around the New Madrid fault system. Here in southern Indiana
we are on the edge of the system, far enough away that, when it kicks,
we'll rock'n'roll but not collapse. It's also a haven for alternative
type people with a history of many small ICs in the area. Lawrence
County (outside of the town of Bedford) has no zoning (rare these
days) and no building inspectors so alternative structures can be
build with no government intervention. Bloomington is 30 miles north
of here and it's a hotbed of education and alternative culture.
Another place to look, if you want to stay more south, is Ashville NC.
2012 is the end of hierarchy as a viable organizational system. It is
the end of both the Islamic and Xtian calender/timing systems. Why?
Because the wars they are about to unleash upon each other is going to
be devastating and, in the end, no one will believe any of this crap.
We will be left with each other and what we can form via consensus - J

One of my operating assumptions is that the 2012 shift might be subtle. What would happen if the entire population of the world suddenly became ten percent less fearful, or ten percent more compassionate? We are already doing that at an apparently exponential rate. (Those with broadband can watch the TED.com talk entitled "The Myth of Violence.") The brutality that was common around the world a hundred years ago is acceptable almost nowhere, now. My guess is that it would be a tipping point that would end the tolerance for squandared life potential. The hand, whose muscles had previously simply spasmed in an uncoordinated fashion, would suddenly acquire the ability to grasp and release. We could suddenly start addressing environmental challenges as a species.

Or maybe it will be a technical innovation: an internet app that facilitates the rise of a shadow government, by and for the people; or a new drug that counters a pervasive disease that we didn't know we had.

Or maybe this is a false dicotomy. Maybe a subtle energy process and a physical/technical innovation will reflect each other, a la "as above, so below."

All I really expect is the unexpected. I expect a "black swan," to use popular term. I expect the hurricane to come from a butterfly's wing.

I bought a couple acres and I grow as much of my own food as possible. I do it for security, for health, and for fun. But I would not move to the boondocks because neither my intuition nor my imagination incline toward a destructive physical apolalypse. More likely, to my mind, would be a psychic apocalpse in which humanity is confronted with the stark possibility of its own demise, and it self-corrects.

Just my 2 pence.

Dan

Consensus

It could be said that Consensus Follows Committment and Acceptance
because you do have to be comnmitted to what you are consensing about
and you do have to be accepted before you can join in with the circle
as a reasonably active member in good standing. Therefore consensus
is not always the first step, but only follows much later.

The plan is to bring together a fairly large body of well integrated
people who are knowledgeable and experienced enough and able to
integrate into a cooperative sustainable community group that can
create the EcoVillage that has already been planned and then we
will be able to show the world what can be done by the committed
efforts of a wide diversity of good folks from around the world who
can resolve any problems they may have had.

We will then have a consensus council of committed members that will
take over all of the decision making responsibilities for this
project when they are ready for that and we will then be able to
carry on with the vision of the Emerald Forest of sustainable
communities that could be springing up around the world which would
be our way of Saving the Earth by changing the future through positive
action right here in the past.

All who come here in full faith should show a willingness to work
with the existing material first. Then new material can be added
which will integrate well into the project with all due respect for
the people who have already gotten there and begun to build the
bridges across to this community.

Some Spirit of Generosity is going to be expected from all the good
people who wish to gain some recognition and acceptance among us
here, at least as someone who is known and can be trusted.

The Truth comes first and then the money issues will work themselves
out for the very best of the True Spirits who come to us in Full
Faith to the meetings and enter into positive relationships of mutual
respect with us here on the Web.

Sustainable Community is about Relationships.

All who can accept some guidance and direction will be welcome
at the Lodge Meeting at 11am March 29th where we can
talk further about how the vision was meant to unfold with grace and
integrity once the basic levels of respect for the process have been
established. Directions and more on the page below: - T
